Gilliam’s screenwriting faculty have captured international awards and festival recognition from Locarno and Glasgow to SXSW, Slamdance, and MoMA’s Doc Fortnight; sold original screenplays to Universal and FOX; and written and directed feature films and shows released by A24 (Obvious Child), Vertical (Yes, God, Yes—named one of The New Yorker’s Best Movies of 2020), Netflix (Nobody Wants This), 20th Century Studios (Rosaline), and HBO Max (Starstruck).

Our playwrights have won top honors at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and developed new work with Clubbed Thumb, The Playwrights Realm, Williamstown Theatre Festival, New Georges, La MaMa, Cherry Lane Theatre, and more.

In the academy, we advance scholarship in journals like Cortex and Frontiers in Psychology, publishing peer-reviewed research on neuroscience, education, and the arts. Our faculty’s writing has also been featured in boundary-pushing anthologies from MIT Press and University of California Press.
